Season Opener

My first post has to go out to Jim. I work with Jim's sister at a small technology company in Lacey, Washington. Jan knew of my interest in electric vehicles and mentioned some time in 2008 that her brother was looking for a home for his electric bike. At the time, she mentioned that it was a purplish (or pinkish) color and needed work.

About a year later, I still hadn't gotten started on my MR2 conversion project. I mentioned to her that I wished I would have followed up on her brother's bike because it would seem to be far simpler to fix an existing electric system than build a new one. Incredibly, Jim's search for a new owner was still on! I drove up to Seattle with a friend to retrieve the "bike". When I pulled up to Jim's house, I couldn't believe my eyes -- it was a real motorcycle! And it wasn't pink!! Jim had all of the documents and some good advice to get it running again. The price was too low to pass up. His requirement: that it go to a good home. I will try to live up to that...

The Lectra is parked in my insulated garage in front of the MR2 and is awaiting the beginning of Winter (when my yard maintenance duties take an intermission here in the Northwest). I'm hoping to get started in November and will document my progress on this blog.

A HUGE Thank You to Jim!!!
